When: Monthly on Tuesday mornings

Venue: Quaker Barn

This group is interested in all aspects of World History; political, social, economic etc. We choose a topic which usually lasts from 6 months to up to a year. During that time all members research the topic and then each give a talk or presentation on an aspect which interests them. The rest of the group listen and then discuss. This is a format which works very well. We all get to do some research but also find out a great deal from the other members.

The group is now meeting in the Quaker Barn, Meeting House Lane, Ulverston.

We meet on the first Tuesday of the month from 10:00 until 12:00.

Our current topic is The Romans and we plan to mainly concentrate on the period from the middle of the first century BCE to the early part of the 3rd century CE. However, it is possible we may go outside these times as we will take a thematic approach choosing subjects such as Slavery, Roman Games or Pompeii to form our presentations. This topic will be ongoing until July 2024.

Any new members interested in trying out this group would be most welcome.

Email Rosie Kyles , World History Group Leader for more information.
