Furness

Digital Photography

Status:Active, open to new members
Coordinator:
Group email: Digital Photography group
When: Monthly on Thursday afternoons
3rd Thurs at 2pm
Venue: Methodist Rooms, Ulverston

The aim of the group is to encourage members to take photographs and while doing so to share and learn techniques.

An assignment is set monthly, and members are invited to submit 3 pictures for this. This is done via Flickr group.

An indoor meeting is held every 3rd Thursday of the month, at 2pm, in the Methodist Rooms at Neville Street, Ulverston. These feature:

• the photos taken by group members for a monthly assignment are digitally projected. We encourage constructive feedback and discussion of the photos posted.

• and a tutorial or slideshow/talk. Established members are invited to prepare a slideshow/talk, e.g. on a great photographer, or their favorite photos, or the best pictures they’ve taken.

We also have outdoor meetings to take photos, according to opportunity (e.g. local landscapes, the Dickensian Festival, etc) and weather.

These may be set up and cancelled at short notice, so we have a WhatsApp group to help last-minute communications.

Our Facebook group "Furness U3A Digital Photography Group" will continue, but we'll use Flickr as the main method to share our photos.

After 2 successful years on Zoom, we may still use this sometimes for extra meetings.
