Wellbeing Walks

Status:Active, open to new members
Coordinator:
Group email: Wellbeing Walks group
When: On Monday mornings

Since its formation in November 2022 the Wellbeing Walks group continues to steadily attract new members seeking to participate in gentle walks of between two and four miles. All but one of the current rolling programme of ten walks available start and finish in Ulverston with a visit to a local café, either en-route, or at the end of the walk. All but one of the walks are without stiles and the routes are chosen because of a reasonable level surface underfoot or tarmac and with little or no ascent involved.

Walks take place every Monday morning (usually starting at 9.30am) and are led by Linda Marshall. Information about the next walk is emailed to members on Thursdays and includes a map of the route and information about start time and place, distance, where members can park, how far away public transport links are, toilets, terrain, break-off points, location of rest points, what to bring and features of interest along the route. All of these details are provided so that members can decide if the proposed walk is appropriate for them with regards to their fitness and any medical conditions. Members are required, on joining the group, to provide ICE details (In Case of Emergency) for contacting a relative or friend in the event of an incident in which the individual is involved.

New members will be welcomed either through the Wellbeing Walks page on the Furness u3a website, or a Drop-in or Monthly speaker meeting, at which Linda M , the Group Leader will be available.

Contact Linda M for information.
